Intervention
When reading is hard, more practice isn’t always the answer.
Sometimes a child needs someone to look closely at where the breakdown is happening. And the child behind it.
That’s where individualized Orton-Gillingham intervention begins.
What is Orton-Gillingham?
Orton-Gillingham is an explicit, structured, multisensory approach to reading and spelling instruction. It isn't a program pulled off a shelf.
Your child doesn't need to fit the lesson plan. The lesson plan fits your child.
That's diagnostic work. A hesitation, a guessed word, a sound that isn't automatic yet, all tell me exactly what to teach next.
About Me
I'm Kate Oznick, M.Ed., A/OGA, an Associate-level Orton-Gillingham Practitioner certified through the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators.
Getting there took 100 hours of supervised practicum, overseen by an OGA Fellow, plus 70 hours of coursework, and professional education that hasn't stopped since.
Fourteen-plus years in the classroom, most of it teaching Pre-K and Kindergarten in a Reggio Emilia–inspired program, plus over a decade of 1:1 Orton-Gillingham work since.
That early-childhood foundation means I see reading as one part of a whole child, not something taught in isolation.
I bring that training to every lesson. But the child in front of me is where the work actually begins.
Let’s Talk
Reading struggles aren’t only academic. They shape how a child feels about trying, about being wrong, about being seen as a learner.
My job is to provide instruction that's carefully structured, and to create a space where your child can take risks, make mistakes, notice their own growth, and experience real success.
